THIS SERIES OF ARTICLES WILL BE BILINGUAL Cominciamo un viaggio attraverso la storia con la timewave con immagini grafiche dal 1990 al 2018:

La linea viola corrisponde al grafico ” originale ” e la linea blu corrisponde alla correzione del matematico Watkins, e quindi dovrebbe essere un po’ più accurata.

MAY 30 – – George H. W. Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev begin a four-day summit meeting in Washington, D.C.

AUGUST 6 1990 – Gulf War: The United Nations Security Council orders a global trade embargo against Iraq in response to its invasion of Kuwait.

The South African government and ANC begin talks on ending Apartheid in South Africa.

SEPTEMBER 24 1990 –  The Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union grants Gorbachev special powers for 18 months to secure the Soviet Union’s transition to a market economy.

NOVEMBER 12 1990 – Tim Berners-Lee publishes a more formal proposal for the World Wide Web.

NOVEMBER 29 1990 –  Gulf War: The United Nations Security Council passes UN Security Council Resolution 678, authorizing military intervention in Iraq if that state does not withdraw its forces from Kuwait and free all foreign hostages by Tuesday, January 15, 1991.

The Gulf War starts January 15 1991.

February 13 – Gulf War: Two laser-guided “smart bombs” destroy an underground bunker in Baghdad, killing hundreds of Iraqis. United States military intelligence claims it was a military facility but Iraqi officials identify it as a bomb shelter.

February 25 – Gulf War: Part of an Iraqi Scud missile hits an American military barracks in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, killing 29 and injuring 99 U.S. soldiers. It is the single-most devastating attack on U.S. forces during that war.

August 24Dissolution of the Soviet Union: Ukraine declares independence from Soviet Union.

August 25 – Serbian aggression (Yugoslav People’s Army and Chetniks) starts on Croatian town Vukovar.

December 1Dissolution of the Soviet Union: Ukrainians vote overwhelmingly for independence from the Soviet Union in a referendum.

December 8 Leaders of Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine meet and sign an agreement ending the Soviet Union and establishing the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), in the Białowieża Forest Nature Reserve in Belarus.

December 21 The North Atlantic Cooperation Council (NAC-C) meets for the first time, the day on which the Soviet Union ceases to exist.

March 25 The International Atomic Energy Agency orders Iraq to destroy an industrial complex at Al Atheer that is being used to manufacture nuclear weapons.

February 7 – The Maastricht Treaty is signed, founding the European Union.

February 9Algerian Civil War: The government of Algeria declares a state of emergency and begins a crackdown on the Islamic Salvation Front.

September 2 – The 7.7 Mw Nicaragua earthquake affected the west coast of Nicaragua. With a Ms–Mw disparity of half a unit, this tsunami earthquake triggered a tsunami that caused most of the damage and casualties, with at least 116 killed. Average runup heights were 3–8 meters (9.8–26.2 ft).

September 16Black Wednesday: The pound sterling and the Italian lira are forced out of the European Exchange Rate Mechanism.

February 10 1993 – Mani pulite scandal: Italian legislator Claudio Martelli resigns, followed by various politicians over the next two weeks.

October 29Francisco Martin Duran fires over two dozen shots at the White House; he is later convicted of trying to assassinate President Bill Clinton.
